AMERICANS AND THE HOLOCAUST


Holocaust history raises important questions about what Europeans could have done to stop the rise of Nazism in Germany and its assault on Europe’s Jews. Questions also must be asked of the international community, including the United States.


What did the US government and the American people know about the threats posed by Nazi Germany? What responses were possible? And when?


This exhibition examines the motives, pressures, and fears that shaped Americans’ responses to Nazism, war, and genocide.

Nathan Fielder founder of Summit Ice Apparel  The Vancouver Holocaust Education Centre (VHEC) is devoted to Holocaust-based anti-racism education and commemoration.   VHEC Summit Ice Nathan’s Story While a student at Vancouver Talmud Torah, Nathan heard a VHEC Holocaust survivor outreach speaker share their experiences during the Holocaust. That stayed with him. Now a writer and comedian living in Los Angeles, Fielder started the not-for-profit apparel company Summit Ice in 2015 after learning that the jacket he wore while filming his shows was linked to a Holocaust denier. Nathan committed to donate 100% of Summit Ice’s profits to the Vancouver Holocaust Education Centre. Summit Ice: Nathan Fielder's Brand with a Purpose

Summit Ice Summit Ice is a brand created by Nathan Fielder, a Canadian comedian and writer known for his satirical television show "Nathan for You". The brand, which sells outdoor clothing, was created as a parody of corporate activism and aims to raise awareness about the Holocaust and support Holocaust education. Through Summit Ice, Fielder raises important questions about the ethics of consumerism and the responsibility of businesses towards social causes. He highlights how some companies may prioritize profit and image over genuine social impact, and how consumers can be swayed by surface-level displays of activism without critically examining the authenticity of those efforts. Nathan Fielder, in character as a clueless and socially awkward entrepreneur, started Summit Ice in Season 3, Episode 7 of "Nathan for You".
